(2643), Bernhard ( 1973 SD ) is an about four kilometers in Asteroid of the inner main belt , which on 19 September 1973 by the Dutch - American astronomer Tom Gehrels at Palomar Observatory about 80 kilometers northeast of San Diego , California ( IAU- Code 675) was discovered. It belongs to the Phocaea family, a group of asteroids named after (25) Phocaea .

(2643) Bernhard was named after Prince Bernhard zur Lippe-Biesterfeld to honor his interest in comets and asteroids.
