(2998) Berendeya ( 1975 TR 3 ; 1979 YJ 4 ; 1981 EU 21 ) is an approximately four-kilometer asteroid of the main inner belt that was discovered on October 3, 1975 by the Russian (then: Soviet Union ) astronomer Lyudmila Ivanovna Tschernych at the Crimean Observatory (Nautschnyj branch) on the Crimean peninsula ( IAU code 095). It belongs to the Hertha family , a group of asteroids named after (135) Hertha .
designation
(2998) Berendeya was named after the land of the Berendejer in the fairy tale drama Snow Maiden by Alexander Nikolayevich Ostrowski .
