Aappi [ API ] (the old spelling AIPE ) is a desolate fallen Greenlandic settlement in the district Upernavik in Avannaata Come Unia .

location

Aappi is located in the southwest of a small island of the same name in the Ikeq fjord (Upernavik Isfjord). The closest place is Aappilattoq eleven kilometers south.

history

It is said that Aappi was a good hunting spot, but that changed when Tussaaq was founded in the 1880s . From 1911 Aappi belonged to the municipality of Aappilattoq. In 1918, Aappi had 25 residents who lived in three houses. Five of them worked as hunters and two as fishermen. The residents lived in great poverty. The residential space was given up in the mid-1920s.
