Sarfaq [ ˈsɑfːɑq ] (according to the old spelling Sarfaĸ ) is a deserted Greenlandic settlement in the district of Upernavik in the Avannaata Kommunia .

Sarfaq is located on the north coast of the island of Qallunaat . The closest location is Nutaarmiut 16 km south-southwest.
history
Sarfaq was settled before 1887. In 1916 a large iceberg calved right in front of the residential area , causing a tsunami that hit Sarfaq. Seven people were killed in the process. The survivors left the place and founded the Appaalissiorfik residential area further north , where nineteen people lived in 1918.
