Appaalissiorfik [ aˈpːaːlisːiˌɔfːik ] (according to the old spelling Agpâligsiorfik ) is a desolate Greenlandic settlement in the district of Upernavik in the Avannaata Kommunia .

location

Appaalissiorfik is located on the southern tip in the west of the island of Qulleqqorsuit at the mouth of the Kangerlussuaq (Giesecke Isfjord). The place is 33 km north of Nutaarmiut and 37 km south of Nuussuaq .

history

Appaalissiorfik was founded around 1916 by survivors from Sarfaq , where everything was destroyed by a tsunami . In 1918 Appaalissiorfik had 19 residents in two houses. In 1923, Appaalissiorfik was spun off from Tasiusaq Municipality to Nuussuaq Municipality . The residential area was abandoned as early as 1924.
