Uingasoq [ uˈiŋasɔq ] (according to the old spelling Uvingassoĸ ) is a deserted Greenlandic settlement in the district of Upernavik in the Avannaata Kommunia .

location

Uingasoq is located on the island of the same name south of Tasiusaq Island . The closest location is Tasiusaq nine kilometers north.

history

Uingasoq was first mentioned in the 1798 census. The place was also inhabited in 1806. In 1850 it was temporarily abandoned, but in 1887 it was probably inhabited again. Between 1901 and 1918 the residential space was finally given up. No further information is known.
