Upernaviarsuk [ uˌpɜnːaviˈɑsːuk ] (according to the old spelling Upernaviarssuk ) is a desolate Greenlandic settlement in the district of Upernavik in the Avannaata Kommunia .
location
Upernaviarsuk is located on a very small island off the east of the large island of Qaarsorsuatsiaq and thus on the north bank of the Akornat . 16 km to the west is the nearest inhabited place Upernavik .
history
Upernaviarsuk served as a summer place for the residents of Kingittoq , as there were better hunting conditions here. It can be assumed that the residential area was temporarily also permanently inhabited.
