Saffiorfik [ ˌsafːiˈɔfːik ] (according to the old spelling Savfiorfik ) is a deserted Greenlandic settlement in the district of Upernavik in the Avannaata Kommunia .
location
Saffiorfik is located in the south of Tasiusaq Island at the tip of a small peninsula. Tasiusaq is located nine kilometers north on the same island .
history
Saffiorfik was settled after 1887. From 1911 the place belonged to the municipality Tasiusaq. In 1918 the residential area had 16 residents. The two families lived in two houses, one of which was very small and poorly built and the other was significantly larger. It is reported that the residents were rather lazy and often went hungry despite the good fishing opportunities. Between 1930 and 1950, between eight and twelve people lived in Saffiorfik. In 1950 Saffiorfik became part of the new municipality of Upernavik , but a year later the last ten residents left the place.
