(48480) Falk is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on December 28, 1991 by the German astronomer Freimut Börngen at the Thuringian state observatory in Tautenburg ( IAU code 033).

The heavenly body was named on May 1, 2003 after the German lay theologian , writer and hymn poet Johannes Daniel Falk (1768–1826), who is considered to be the founder of the rescue house movement and youth social work .
