(7867) Burian is an asteroid of the main inner belt , which was discovered on September 20, 1984 by the Czech astronomer Antonín Mrkos at the Kle Observ Observatory ( IAU code 046) near Český Krumlov .
Mean solar distance ( major semi-axis ), eccentricity and inclination of the orbit plane of the asteroid are similar to the orbital data of the members of the Flora family, a large group of asteroids named after (8) Flora . Asteroids of this family move in a 4: 9 orbital resonance with the planet Mars around the sun . The group is also called the Ariadne family, after the asteroid (43) Ariadne .
(7867) Burian is named after the Czech draftsman and graphic artist Zdeněk Burian , who is best known for his illustrations of books about prehistoric animals and humans. (7867) Burian was named by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) on May 23, 2000 at the suggestion of the Czech astronomers Miloš Tichý and Jiří Borovička .
