1-heptene is a chemical compound from the group of unsaturated, aliphatic hydrocarbons (more precisely the alkenes ).
Occurrence
1-Hepten is a product of petroleum distillation and occurs as a component in gasoline . It is also released in very small quantities in apples , apricots , cherries and plums from flowering fruit trees.
use
1-Heptene is used as a starting material in organic syntheses, for example as a comonomer in the production of polyethylene , in the production of linear aldehydes by hydroformylation . Hydroformylation to octanal with subsequent reduction to 1-octanol and dehydrogenation to 1-octene is used for the industrial production of 1-octene on a scale of 100,000 t / a.
safety instructions
The vapors of 1-heptene form an explosive mixture with air ( flash point −8 ° C, ignition temperature 250 ° C). If swallowed and inhaled there is a danger to life.
