10.5 - The earth quakes ( 10.5 [ ˌten pɔɪnt ˈfaɪv - ]) is an American television miniseries from 2004 by director John Lafia . The leading roles are played by Kim Delaney and Beau Bridges .
action
The plot deals with a series of catastrophic earthquakes along the west coast of the United States , beginning in Seattle , ending in a 10.5-magnitude earthquake (on the Richter scale ) that sunk half of Los Angeles in the Pacific and a mile-wide stretch of land to San José separates from the American mainland, culminates.
The plot also deals with a geologist, Dr. Hill, who discovered that these earthquakes will sink the west coast and its coastal cities such as San Francisco , Seattle, San Diego and Los Angeles into the ocean. Only after a while does she manage to convince the president that this will happen and, with the help of the atom bombs he has provided, she succeeds in stabilizing the crevices so that the west coast does not disappear into the ocean. Even so, it cannot prevent these earthquakes, but through its actions it can save millions of lives.
The sequel 10.5 - Apocalypse starts exactly at this point without losing any time.
