The 153rd Field Training Division was a German infantry division during World War II . The division was set up on December 16, 1942 in the Crimea as a field training division. The field training division served to train replacement teams for front divisions. However, the units were also used for security tasks in the rear of the front and in the context of front-line operations together with existing infantry divisions with experience in the front.

The division survived in heavy fighting in the Crimea until its destruction in March 1944.

In April 1944, the 153rd Field Training Division was reorganized in Ukraine . However, this division was destroyed in Romania in August 1944 .

In October 1944 the division was reorganized for the third time, this time in Hungary . After the defeat of the 153rd Field Training Division at Szekesfehervar at the end of 1944, the remaining units continued to exist as the Edelmann combat group (named after the division's former commander). In February 1945 this was transferred to the newly established 153rd Grenadier Division .
