Events
- First Punic War : A naval expedition of the Romans under the consul Lucius Cornelius Scipio succeeds in capturing Corsica with the port of Aléria , as well as large parts of Sardinia . Olbia remains in Carthaginian hands.
- The Carthaginian general Hamilkar Barkas succeeds in a battle in Sicily near Thermae near Himera over the Romans. He also conquered Camarina and Enna . He built Drepanum (today Trapani ) on the western tip of Sicily into the strongest Carthaginian fortress on the island and relocated the inhabitants of Eryx (today Erice ) there.
