Alexander train
- Summer: Tactical success of the Persians in the Alexander campaign : they use the dissolution of the Greek fleet to advance into the Aegean Sea, in which they take Chios and Lesbos . However, these conquests are lost again in August after the death of the military commander Memnon , who was in Persian service .
- Alexander the Great is Antigonus as governor in Gordion and pulls even with the army over the Taurus Mountains. Capture of Cilicia and its capital Tarsus, where Alexander stays until October.
- November: Alexander the Great wins the battle of Issus over the Persian great king Dareios III.
- After the battle of Issus, Alexander's troops pursued the fleeing Persians; Damascus is taken, where huge riches are stolen. The mother, wife and children of Darius are also captured here in Macedonian.
- Foundation of Alexandreia (also: Alexandretta; today İskenderun) as the first Hellenistic city foundation in Asia
