Anthony Jude Pero (born October 14, 1959 in New York City , † March 20, 2015 in Poughkeepsie , New York ) was an American drummer . He played in the bands Twisted Sister and Adrenaline Mob and previously in the band Cities .

Career

Pero was born on Staten Island . He received his first drum kit at the age of four. In 1980 he was one of the founding members of the heavy metal band Cities. Two years later, Pero received an offer to join Twisted Sister. With Twisted Sister, Pero released four studio albums that sold more than 20 million copies worldwide. The most successful work was the album Stay Hungry from 1984, which was awarded triple platinum in the USA. In 1986, Pero left Twisted Sister and returned to Cities to release the first and only album Annihilation Absolute that same year . Cities dissolved a year later.

Pero was involved in various projects in the following years. In 2000 he played on the solo album Never Let the Bastards Wear You Down by the Twisted Sister singer Dee Snider , before Twisted Sister reformed a year later. Two more studio albums followed. In December 2013, Pero joined the band Adrenaline Mob. He previously recorded their second studio album Men of Honor .

Pero died while on a concert tour with Adrenaline Mob. On the morning of March 20, 2015, his bandmates found him unconscious on the tour bus. After he was admitted to a hospital in Poughkeepsie, he was pronounced dead at 11:00 a.m. local time.

Personal

According to Dee Snider , Pero had two divorced marriages and a 19-year relationship. With these women he had a total of 4 children. Heart disease was already widespread in his family. His long-term girlfriend, Michele Agnello, had started a GoFundMe fundraiser to save her and her daughter from the financial problems after Pero's death. However, it was discontinued a short time later.
