We the People -

We the People is the third studio album by the American heavy metal / hard rock band Adrenaline Mob . It was released on June 2, 2017 via Century Media .

Emergence

As before the second studio album Men of Honor , the staff carousel turned again at Adrenaline Mob. Bassist John Moyer left the band in August 2014 and was replaced by Erik Leonhardt. He left the band in 2016. His successor was David Zablidowsky, who was active with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra , among others . In March 2015, the drummer A. J. Pero died , who was replaced by Jordan Cannata, who previously worked mainly as a studio musician. At first the continuation of the band was uncertain. It was only after a Century Media employee contacted singer Russell Allen by phone that it was decided to continue running Adrenaline Mob.

Was taken We the People in the autumn of 2016 Sonic Stomp Studio in New York City . The album was produced by Mike Orlando . Sometimes older ideas were worked out into finished songs. This is how Bleeding Hands was originally created for the second album Men of Honor , but was only completed for We the People . With Rebell Yell , the band also recorded a cover version . The original is from Billy Idol . The LP version of the album contains other cover versions with The Devil Went Down to Georgia ( Charlie Daniels ), Snortin 'Whiskey ( Pat Travers ) and Tie Your Mother Down ( Queen ). These three tracks were already released on the Dearly Departed EP , but had never been released on vinyl before. A music video has been released for the song King of the Ring .

The album title includes the much-cited first three words of the United States Constitution and, according to singer Russell Allen, reflects contemporary American society. The theme song was influenced by the election campaign for the 2016 presidential election . On the album cover you can see the band's mascot as the US president, framed by two women. The woman on the left represents an angel , the woman on the right a devil .

Blind Leading the Blind was the first song that Mike Orlando wrote for the new album. According to Russell Allen , the text is about the mass media , which bombard people with left and right propaganda instead of being neutral, free of emotions , prejudice and inclinations and just presenting facts. Allen referred to this phenomenon as "war" and also criticized the people who make their life easy and only hear the news they want to hear.

Chasing Dragons addresses the increasing abuse of opiates worldwide . A text video was released for the song in which some statistics on this issue are given. Singer Russell Allen stated in an interview that a member of his family was also found dead in his car and that opiate abuse was the cause of death. The fact that the cover version of the song Rebell Yell landed on the album is, according to Mike Orlando, a kind of tribute to the late drummer AJ Pero. Rebel Yell was one of the last songs Adrenaline Mob recorded with Pero.

reception

Matthias Weckmann from the German magazine Metal Hammer wrote that the album “is based on classic songwriting, but is equally fresh, lively and contemporary”. It would “not be enough to make a super album”, but the album would be “a delightfully gripping and powerful announcement”. Weckmann awarded five out of seven points. For Jakob Ehmke of the online magazine Powermetal.de , the album has "at least a handful of songs that are as strong as a bear", but the album would be "just too loud, as if someone were constantly hitting you". Ehmke awarded seven out of ten points.

The album reached number 78 on the Swiss album charts.
