Abdelkader Chadi (* 12. December 1986 ) is an Algerian boxer in the lightweight . Chadi took part in the Olympic Games 2008 in Beijing and 2012 in London .

Career

In 2005 Chadi took part in the featherweight (-57 kg) for the first time in the world championships , but retired in the first fight against Mark Davis, USA (38:32).

At the 2007 African Championships in Antananarivo , Chadi won the featherweight gold medal after winning the semi-finals against Mehdi Ouatine , Morocco (25: 7) and in the final over Frederick Lawson, Ghana (28:24), and was also able to achieve this success at the Pan-African Games in the same year in Algiers with a final victory over Shili Alaa , Tunisia (23: 6), repeat.

Because of these successes, Chadi was nominated for the African Olympic qualification tournament in Algiers and reached the final with a semi-final victory over Shili Alaa, Tunisia (23:14), and thus the qualification for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing . He lost the final to Mehdi Ouatine ( wo ) due to an injury .

At the Olympic Games, Chadi retired after defeating Sailom Adi , Thailand (7: 6), in the quarter-finals against Yakup Kilic , Turkey (13: 6).

In 2009 Chadi was after a very narrow semi-final defeat against Achille Apie, Cameroon (+3: 3), third at the African Championships in Vacoas-Phoenix . At the championships two years later in Yaoundé , Chadi again won the gold medal, this time in the lightweight (-60 kg). He beat Mehdi Ouatine, Morocco (17:15), Mmoloki Nogeng, Botswana (22: 8), and in the final Abdon Mewoli , Cameroon (16: 9).

In 2011, Chadi took part in the World Military Championships in Rio de Janeiro and won the bronze medal after losing to Robson Conceição , Brazil (15:11) in the semi-final . In the same year he retired from the World Championships after winning the preliminary round by a narrow defeat against Miklós Varga , Hungary (19:18). Chadi made up for the missed qualification for the 2012 Olympic Games at the African Olympic qualification tournament with the semi-finals. At the Olympic Games, however, he lost in the preliminary round against Fatih Keleş from Turkey 8:15.

In 2013 Chadi won the gold medal at the Mediterranean Games in Mersin , where he returned the favor in the final at Fatih Keleş.

World Series of Boxing

Chadi fought for Paris United in the World Series of Boxing in the 2010/2011 season , but was only used in the semifinals and finals as a replacement for John Joe Nevin . In both fights he was defeated by his opponents and thus had little share in his team's title win. Also in the 2011/2012 season Chadi fought for Paris United and won against the representatives of the Baku Fires and the Beijing Dragons. In the match against the Mexico City Guerreros he lost to Juan Pablo Romero.

In the 2012/2013 season Chadi moved to the newly formed team of the Algeria Deserts Hawks. He played four fights, all of which he won, but couldn't prevent the Desert Hawks from finishing last in their group.

AIBA Pro Boxing (APB)

Since October 2014, Chadi started in the newly founded professional area "APB" of the IOC recognized world association AIBA. After victories a. a. on Evaldas Petrauskas at the end of the second cycle in third place in the ranking behind Artem Harutiunian and Armen Sakarjan . He qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro .
