Abitur in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania
The Abitur ( university entrance ) in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern was reformed for the school year 2019/20, power - and basic courses were reintroduced from the 11th grade.
Ways to the Abitur in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania
The general higher education entrance qualification can be obtained in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania by means of a certificate
- at a grammar school , a comprehensive school with a grammar school upper level, a specialist grammar school or a substitute school recognized as equivalent
- on the examination for university admission for particularly skilled professionals ( gifted examination ),
- about the Abitur examination for non-school students ,
- an adult education center via the general university entrance qualification or
- on the final examination of a special course to acquire the general higher education entrance qualification for persons entitled under the Federal Expellees Act .
It is also proven by a final examination ( university examination , state examination ) after studying with a standard period of at least six semesters at a university or at the Rostock University of Music and Theater or after studying with a standard period of at least six semesters at a university of applied sciences .
Abitur at the gymnasiale Oberstufe since 2019/20 (examination 2021)
At every school there is a minimum range of five-hour advanced courses at an increased requirement level: the subjects mathematics, German, English and a natural science (biology, chemistry, physics) as well as history and political education. In addition, three and two-hour basic courses are offered. With a sufficient number of participants, a minimum of five additional LK courses are possible, especially in natural sciences and foreign languages. Combined courses from GK (3) and LK (+2) are permitted, even across grades, in order to offer a larger range of courses in smaller upper grades.
The path to the general higher education entrance qualification will continue to lead through five Abitur exams (for the first time in 2021): the two advanced courses and one basic course subject will be examined in writing, two further basic course subjects - this is new - orally.
Abitur at the gymnasiale Oberstufe from 2006 to 2020 exam
The Abitur was last reformed in 2006 . Parallel to the reintroduction of the Abitur after the 12th grade , the upper level of the gymnasium was also reorganized for the 2006/2007 school year. As a result of these changes, there were two parallel Abitur classes in 2008: one after the 12th and one after the 13th grade. A system of (four-hour) majors and (two-hour) subjects took the place of the existing basic and advanced courses . This greatly reduced the course system, as the six compulsory main subjects are largely taught in class.
Subjects and occupancy requirements
Six main subjects each have to be taken four hours per week. In some schools, some major subjects are also offered for five hours per week. They should largely be taught in class and make up 24 hours per week.
Main subjects are:
- German
- mathematics
- a foreign language ( English , French , Greek , Latin , Polish , Russian , Swedish , Spanish )
- History and Political Education
- a natural science ( physics , chemistry or biology )
- an additional foreign language or science
At some schools, in consultation with the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Ministry of Culture, music, art, sport and computer science can also be taken as main subjects or taken as an Abitur.
The subjects make up an additional six hours per week. The following three subjects must be taken for two hours per week:
Other subjects are:
- geography
- Social studies
- Work-economy-technology
- Computer science
- Special subject offers, different depending on the school (e.g. Low German , theater, musical)
The minimum number of hours per week per student is a total of 36 hours per week (class 11) or 34 hours per week (class 12). The average number of hours per week for a high school student is 35.
There is no distinction between compulsory subjects and elective subjects, as is the case in Baden-Württemberg , nor is there an official assignment of subjects to the three task areas (linguistic-literary-artistic, social science, mathematical-natural science), although within the framework of the legal provisions reference is made to the fields of activity.
Abitur examination
The central / national Abitur examination consists of four written examinations and an oral examination. Two of the total of five examination subjects to be selected from the main subjects are weighted twice.
The written Abitur examination takes place:
- written (240-300 minutes) at advanced level in one of the main subjects German, mathematics, (continued) foreign language or natural science (double weighted)
- written (240–300 minutes) at the advanced level in a further major (double weighted)
- in writing (180–240 minutes) at the basic course level in a further subject
- in writing (180–240 minutes) at the basic course level in a further subject (or a special learning achievement )
- Oral (20 minutes) at the basic course level in a further subject
The five examination subjects must include:
- German
- mathematics
- a foreign language or a natural science
- a social science
The calculation of the performance and the determination of the overall qualification are based on the national system . Due to the special features of the upper level structure in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the following adjustments must be observed:
- The 22 basic courses to be billed correspond to 22 of the following courses in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, insofar as they have not yet been billed with double weighting:
- the courses of the third, fourth and fifth examination subject in the 1st to 3rd semester; In addition, the following courses, if not yet settled in the basic or advanced course block:
- four German courses
- four courses in math
- four courses in a foreign language
- four courses of one natural science or two courses each of two natural sciences
- four courses in history and political education
- two courses in music or art and design
- two courses in religion or philosophy
- In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the two advanced courses to be billed correspond to the 1st and 2nd written examination subject.
- The achievements of the Abitur examination are billed in triplicate; If there is a written and an oral exam in a subject, the partial results are weighted in a ratio of 2: 1.
