content

After Helena's flight with Paris to Troy, Troy is besieged by the Greeks . Achilles, invulnerable offspring of the Nereid Thetis and leader of the Myrmidons , takes a stand against the besieging Greek king Agamemnon and his comrades-in-arms, giving the Trojans a strategic advantage. Only when Hector kills Patroclus from their camp, with whom Achilles was friends, does Achilles take part in the battle again with his army. He humiliates Agamemnon and forces Hector into a hopeless duel. At the end of the film, the Achilles' heel is cut through with a hatchet and kills the hero.

criticism

"A typical Italian stew from the early sixties."

- Hahn, Jansen, Stresau: Lexicon of fantasy films.

"Homer's heroic epic" Iliad "as a template for a pseudo-historical colossal film about part of the Trojan War. Much turmoil and false heroism. "
