Adam Drese
Adam Drese (born December 1620 in Thuringia , † February 15, 1701 in Arnstadt ) was a German conductor and composer .
Life
Drese received his training at the instigation of Duke Wilhelm IV of Weimar from Marco Scacchi in Warsaw and from 1652 took over the position of court conductor with his patron. After that he still worked in Jena and Arnstadt in the same position.
He created several works of vocal music , most of which, however, have not survived. He gained fame during his time through his chorale melodies to religious poems by Georg Neumark in his work "The Poetic-Musical Lustwäldlein" and Nikolaus Ludwig Graf von Zinzendorf's "Jesus, go ahead" (EG 391). He also set hymns by Georg Konrad Büttner to music .
