Adam Duce (born April 14, 1972 in Oakland , California ) is an American bassist and founding member of the metal band Machine Head .

Life

Duce had a difficult childhood, between the ages of 11 and 18 he was only at home twice for four months at a time, the rest of the time he spent in drug rehab , dormitories, mental hospitals and the juvenile detention center .

music

He started playing bass in 1985 and founded the metal band Machine Head with his friend Robb Flynn in 1992 . In addition to Machine Head, he also worked with Roadrunner United and is featured on their DVD The Concert .

Duce is a passionate dirt biker . In 2007 he contracted a leg fracture that required a surgical procedure in which the bone had to be splinted with a steel plate and two screws. Since he could not take part in the Black Tyranny Tour Machine Heads through the USA in this state , he was replaced by Brandon Sigmund from Hostility . At the beginning of 2009 he had to undergo an operation due to a long-standing infection of the root canal . Since his dentist imposed a flight ban on him because of the proximity of the infection to his brain, he had to be represented by his friend Patrik Jensen (guitarist of The Haunted ) at a performance in Stockholm on May 4, 2009 (with Metallica and The Sword ) become.

Adam Duce is a supporter of the Oakland Raiders football team .

Controversy with Robb Flynn

During the joint tour of Slipknot and Machine Head there was a two-day argument between Robb Flynn and Adam Duce during a performance in Paris, which ended in Flynn immediately flying back to the USA and announcing his departure from the band. However, under the condition of joint therapy, the band reunited shortly afterwards. After another disagreement between Flynn and Duce in 2012, Duce was fired.
