Machine Fucking Head Live (on the cover Machine F ** king Head Live ) is the second live album of the American thrash metal band Machine Head . It was released on November 9, 2012 via Roadrunner Records .
Origin and background
The idea of releasing a second live album came to the band during their North American tour for their seventh studio album, Unto the Locust . Machine Head played the so-called The Eighth Plague tour between autumn 2011 and summer 2012 together with Suicide Silence , Darkest Hour , Bring Me the Horizon and DevilDriver .
"The shows of the last leg of the tour were so incredibly fat and the head cases [the band's name for their fans] were so intense that we just had to document the whole thing."
The concerts were recorded by Bozz Porter. Game mistakes and crooked chants were left as they are and not corrected in the studio. Mixed and mastered was Machine Fucking Head Live Juan Urtega and Robb Flynn in Trident Studios in Pachecho , California . The 15 songs selected for the double album are mostly from the last two studio albums Unto the Locust and The Blackening . The albums The More Things Change… , The Burning Red , Supercharger and Through the Ashes of Empires are only represented with one title each. According to Robb Flynn, the songs were chosen based on the reactions of the band and audience.
