The Adler-Express is a German passenger ship operated by the Adler-Schiff shipping company in Westerland / Sylt .

description

The ship was built in 1993 with the hull number B87 at the Swedish shipyard Marinteknik Verkstads AB in Öregrund for Adler ships. The keel was laid on September 14, 1992, the launch in May 1993. The ship was completed in June 1993.

That for driven coastal trade approved ship of two of MTU Friedrichshafen built twelve-cylinder four-stroke - marine diesel engines (12 V 396) with a capacity of each 1,260  kW that are not on propeller , but a water jet propulsion interact with two water jet high-pressure nozzles. The ship, which, according to the shipping company, is the fastest German single-hull passenger ship, thus reaches a maximum speed of 33  knots (kn), however, due to speed restrictions stipulated in the ordinance on navigating the federal waterways in national parks in the area of the North Sea , with operated at a maximum speed of 24 kn. The ship also has two bow thrusters with an output of 13 kW each. Two generators with an apparent power of 87.5 kVA each  are available for the power supply on board .

The Adler-Express has stabilizers . Since it has a comparatively shallow draft and is not moved by a propeller but by a water jet propulsion system, it reaches a high cruising speed even in shallow fairways.

In 2018 it received an olive-brown painting of the hull as well as laterally along the upper window front and oblique stripes, which also include the chimneys. The hull was later painted black.

The ship is mainly used in the North Frisian Wadden Sea , where it operates between the Nordstrand peninsula , the Hallig Hooge and the islands of Amrum and Sylt . In 2018 there will be service on Mondays instead of Hooge Langeneß , and on Fridays the island Pellworm will also be served . Occasionally the Hallig Gröde is also called . The Adler-Express is not a certified national park partner, but may be used in regular services in the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park .
