Adolf von Goetze

Friedrich Adolf von Goetze (born August 15, 1800 in Pöppeln, Labiau district , † February 7, 1897 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

He was the son of the chief forester Friedrich Wilhelm von Goetze (1765-1821) and his wife Dorothea, born von Knobelsdorff (1767-1843).

Military career

Goetze joined the 6th Uhlan Regiment of the Prussian Army on September 1, 1816 as a Ulan . There he was promoted to Rittmeister and squadron chief by July 1845 . As such, he participated in the suppression of the revolutionary unrest in the Palatinate and Baden in 1849 . For this Grand Duke Leopold awarded him the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Zähringer Lion . On January 15, 1853, Goetze rose to major and regular staff officer . This was followed on October 30, 1856 with the transfer to Fürstenwalde, the appointment as commander of the 3rd Uhlan Regiment (Emperor of Russia) . In this position, he was on April 9, 1857 Lieutenant Colonel and on 31 May 1859 Colonel promoted. In his capacity as head of the regiment, the Russian Emperor Nicholas I awarded Goetze the Order of St. Anna II. Class with a crown and St. Stanislaus II. Class with a crown for his accomplishments in command of the troops . King Friedrich Wilhelm IV honored him on June 3, 1860 by awarding him the Order of the Red Eagle III. Class with a bow. Shortly thereafter, Goetze was appointed commander of the 5th Cavalry Brigade in Frankfurt (Oder) on July 1, 1860, with the position of his regiment à la suite . On 24 July 1861 he was awarded the character as a major general with the statutory board for disposition made.

After his departure, Goetze lived mainly in Berlin and celebrated his golden and diamond wedding there .

family

Goetze married Emilie Netzer (1803-1888) on December 27, 1825 in Bromberg . The marriage produced three sons:

  • Max Robert (1829–1904), Prussian general of the infantry ⚭ Antonie von Lobenthal (* July 15, 1837 - † July 3, 1879)
  • Karl Hugo (born November 21, 1837), Prussian district administrator
