Adrian Coriolan Gaspar (born May 2, 1987 in Moldova-Nouă , Romania ) is a Romanian - Austrian pianist , composer and arranger . Since 1996 he has lived in Vienna , Austria.

Live and act

Gaspar grew up in Pojejena and partly also in Mössingen as a member of a large family belonging to the Roma minority. He attended a German-speaking school in Caransebeş , where he also received his first piano lessons. In 1996 he moved to Vienna with his family . From 1998 to 2006 he attended the Musikgymnasium in Vienna . In 2003 he was honored as the youngest contemporary composer in the competition of the Viennese music schools with his piece Romanes-ke .

In 2005 Gaspar founded the Adrian Gaspar Orchestra , which is described in the Austrian media as the “youngest independent jazz big band in the world”. This band received the audience award at the Austrian World Music Awards 2006. With the support of ORF Burgenland , the AGO recorded two studio albums in the Eisenstadt regional studio. With Adrian Gaspar GypsyCombo , another project that specializes exclusively in Gypsy and Balkan music , he won the 2007 Austrian World Music Award . In the same year he founded the Adrian Gaspar Trio , with whom he gave concerts in Washington, DC , London , Paris , Madrid , Berlin , Tunis and Istanbul , among others .

Gaspar studied composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Herbert Lauermann , Martin Lichtfuss and Dietmar Schermann . In his private life he studied big band arrangements with his mentor Mathias Rüegg .

Gaspar played with artists such as Thomas Gansch , Georg Breinschmid , Gabriel Rosati , Klaus Dickbauer , Nicolas Simion , Thomas Kugi , Wolfgang Mitterer , Robert Bachner , Franz Hautzinger , Harri Stojka , Herwig Gradischnig , Martin Fuss , Alegre Corrêa , Uli Soyka and Joschi Schneeberger . He also worked with the Romanian symphony orchestra Orchestra Filarmonica Mihail Jora under the direction of the Mexican conductor Jose Arean , who conducted the world premiere of his first orchestral work Symphonia Romani - Bari Duk , an oratorio for solo bass, mixed choir and orchestra based on the KZ -Memories from Hugo Höllenreiner ; Theodore Coresi sang the solo part.
