Adrian Gottlieb von Rhein

Adrian Gottlieb von Rhein (* around 1745; † October 31, 1805 in Tilsit ) was a Prussian major general and head of the regiment .

Life

family

Adrian Gottlieb was a member of the Pomeranian noble family von Rhein and son of the Prussian lieutenant and heir to Wildenhagen Henning Otto von Rhein (1692–1760).

He married Friederike Wilhelmine Albertine Ernestine, Countess Finck von Finckenstein (* August 21, 1761; † July 4, 1835) daughter of Count Ludwig Ernst Finck von Finckenstein (* March 31, 1733; † March 24, 1785) and Christiane Hedwig Felizitas von Schmettau (7 March 1735 - 1 March 1774).

The marriage resulted in three daughters:

  1. Auguste Charlotte (born November 5, 1785 - † January 26, 1835)
  2. Julie Friederike Christiane (1790–1796)
  3. Amalie Caroline (born August 5, 1800)

career

On June 21, 1788, Rhein was promoted to major in Dragoon Regiment No. 7 , became commander in Insterburg in 1797 , rose to colonel on May 21, 1799 and was finally promoted to the rank of major general on May 21, 1805 .

As early as June 15, 1802, he had received the order Pour le Mérite on the occasion of the review and the related meeting with Emperor Alexander I near Memel .

In October 1805, Rhein became chief of Dragoon Regiment No. 7, but he died that same month at the age of 60.
