The Aescherbach is a 3.2 km long left tributary of the Wüeribach in the Swiss cantons of Aargau and Zurich .

The Aescherbach rises in Aargau at 588  m above sea level. M. in the Buematt a little northeast of Arni and below the Chüewald farm directly on the canton border. The spring is framed by wood, which merges into the Sunnebrunne forest in the north .

The stream flows at first for about 120 meters to the southeast between two fields through and is in a single-tree at the Zurich road culverts . The Verdolung is only about 80 meters north of the dolten Chilemattbächlis , a source stream of the Moosmattbach , which in turn is the right source stream of the Arnerbach . It is led north-east along the road and crosses the canton border at the confluence of the also overturned brook from the Sunnebrunne from the left to the 210 meter long brook in Aargau near Eggweid . After crossing under the street now called Dorfstrasse , the Aescherbach reaches the Neumatt and takes up the Moosbächli , which joins from the right . After a passage under a dirt road, it crosses under the Simmlenmatt and finally comes back to the surface after a tree nursery in the Weiermatten .

The Aescherbach flows to the north-northeast, lined with thick wood and followed on the right by a dirt road. From the right, he takes in the water of the Uelisweidbächli, which comes from Islisberg and is overturned at the mouth . It crosses under Islisbergerstrasse and is now slightly deepened, while the surrounding wood becomes wider and thicker. It flows through the Heligenmatt and after the bridge of the Heligenmattstrasse reaches the village of Aesch . In front of the village center, the stream turns to the north-northwest and crosses under the Dorfstrasse at Lielistrasse . At the same time, it takes up the Stierenwaldbach from the left and turns to the northeast, passing the village center in the west, thereby forming the settlement boundary. The Hornstrasse bridge follows , after which it takes in the Chürzibach from the right and the Mättlibach from the left . The brook makes a small curve to the east, before it is bridged in the Huebacher by the Alte Aescherstrasse .

The stream can Aesch behind and flows through the Chalberweid before he at Stüber the heavily forested ravine hole mats forms. After the confluence of the Rebacherbach from the right and the Sägissenbach from the left, it briefly forms the municipality boundary between Aesch and Birmensdorf in the Teuftlen corridor , before flowing on in the latter. The Aescherbach turns to the northwest and passes the Rebenhoger ( 551  m above sea level ), which rises to the right and separates the ravine from the Wüerital . He picks up the completely overturned Chilstigbächli before the ravine is filled in through the route of the Aescherstrasse . The brook crosses under the road, lined with dense wood and slightly deepened in a field again to the surface. It is now bordered on the left by the Chromatten and on the right by the Huebacher , while the stream flows down the slope with a slight incline in small arches mainly to the north. Shortly before the south-eastern settlement border of Birmensdorf the stream flattens out and is bridged by a nameless dirt road.

Finally the Aescherbach flows out at 471  m above sea level. M. im Chratz on the northeast slope of the Ättenberg coming from the left and south-southwest into the lower reaches of the Wüeribach, which flows into the Reppisch shortly afterwards .

Catchment area

The catchment area of ​​the Aescherbach measures 3.66 km², of which 67.8% is agricultural area, 18.6% wooded area and 13.6% settlement area. The highest point of the catchment area is 679  m above sea level. M. at the watershed to the Fluechbach , which also flows into the Wüeribach, in the village of Islisberg , which also forms the highest point in the Wüeribach catchment area. The average altitude is 586  m above sea level. M. and the mean annual precipitation is 1098.95 mm in the source area and 1204.06 mm in the rest of the catchment area.

It extends over the communities of Aesch and Birmensdorf in the Dietikon district , both canton Zurich, and Arni and Islisberg in the Bremgarten district of the canton of Aargau .

flora

On the upper reaches in the Weiermatten shortly before Aesch and partly in the Lochmatten , the brook is bordered by woodruff - beech forest with lungwort and forest ziest . In the Lochmatten Tobel there are mainly arum and beech forests as well as typical maple and ash forests , some with ringelwort .
