Ahmad Brooks Kadar (* 14. March 1984 in Fairfax , Virginia ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of the linebackers . He played college football for the University of Virginia and was voted All-American . From 2006 to 2017 he played in the National Football League (NFL), first two years for the Cincinnati Bengals , then nine seasons for the San Francisco 49ers and in 2017 for the Green Bay Packers .

High school

From 1999 to 2001 Brooks attended CD Hylton High School in Woodbridge , Virginia , where the team won two championship titles in the Virginia High School League. Despite some injuries, he performed well and made 207 tackles in 2001 , including 144 solo tackles and 34 tackles with loss of space. In the running game , he scored 848 yards with an average of 12.6 yards per run and ten touchdowns . In the same year, the team lost in the semifinals against Thomas Dale High School from Chester, Virginia, which was also the only defeat of Hylton within the three active years of Brooks. After the season, he was named USA Today's National Defensive Player of the Year.

Given a five-star rating from Rivals.com , he was named the nation's best outside linebacker in 2002.

college

After graduating from high school, Brooks spent a year at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Virginia, before moving to the University of Virginia in the fall of 2003 , where he played college football with the Virginia Cavaliers . In his first year he got a regular position and ended the season with 117 tackles, four sacks, six defended passes, ten tackles with loss of space and put the opposing quarterbacks under pressure 15 times.

During his second year he was one of three finalists for the Butkus Award , which is given to the best linebacker in the country. He managed 90 tackles, eight sacks, two interceptions , ten tackles with loss of space in twelve games , put opposing quarterbacks under pressure eleven times and was voted All-American . He was also named Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week for his performance in the game against the Maryland Terrapins .

In his third year he played six games and managed a total of 27 tackles, ten of which were solo tackles and one of them was a sack. He also had four defended passes and pressured the quarterback five times. Brooks had to sit out the first three games of the season as he was recovering from knee surgery. In addition, he missed individual games due to further injuries and was involved in some problematic situations off the field, for which he was finally released from the team for the rest of the season.

NFL

Cincinnati Bengals

After his junior year at the University of Virginia Brooks took part in the NFL Supplemental Draft and was selected on July 13, 2006 in the third round by the Cincinnati Bengals . For his first use in the NFL Brooks came on September 24th in the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers . In his first season he came in eleven games (game 3-9, 11, 12, 15, 16) for use, where he was used in games 5 to 9 as a middle linebacker. He scored 46 tackles, one sack, defended two passes and scored a special teams tackle.

In the following season he played in the opening game of the Bengals against the Baltimore Ravens from the start as a starter. Brooks finished the game with six tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble . In the second game against the Cleveland Browns , he injured himself and could not play the rest of the season. On November 7, 2007, he was placed on the Injured Reserve List .

San Francisco 49ers

On August 31, 2008, Brooks was hired by the San Francisco 49ers . The team released linebacker Dontarrious Thomas in advance to make room for him in the squad. On December 2, 2009, head coach Mike Singletary announced that Brooks will be used more in situations in which the opposing quarterback is to be put under pressure. In Week 14, Brooks set his personal best in a game with three sacks and two forced fumbles against the Arizona Cardinals .

In the 2011 regular season , Brooks set up his career highlights in tackles (50) and sacks (7). The 49ers reached the play-offs , in which they lost in the NFC Championship Game to the New York Giants .

On February 28, 2012, Brooks signed a six-year contract for $ 44.5 million with a $ 17.5 million guarantee. In the 2012 season, he scored 35 tackles, two forced fumbles, an interception, 6.5 sacks and six defended passes, being actively involved in 16 games. As in the previous year, he reached the play-offs with the 49ers and this time also the Super Bowl . In Super Bowl XLVII they were defeated by the Baltimore Ravens with 31:34.
