Akkrum is a village in the municipality of Heerenveen in the Dutch province of Friesland . It is located next to the district of Nes , which is why Akkrum-Nes is sometimes mentioned . The village of Akkrum has 3,355 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019).

The village lies on the Boorne river with the Leppa aquaduct and belongs to the Buurtschap Oude Schouw . Since the dissolution of Boarnsterhim in 2014, Akkrum has been part of the municipality of Heerenveen .

history

Akkrum was the main town of the former municipality of Utingeradeel until the territorial reform of 1984 . It also included the villages of Akmarijp , Aldeboarn , Nes, Terhorne and Terkaple . Until December 31, 2013 Akkrum was finally part of the now dissolved Boarnsterhim municipality .

Akkrum is on the A32 motorway between Heerenveen and Leeuwarden . The village has a train station. Trains to Leeuwarden and Meppel stop here (and on to Zwolle and via Lelystad to Den Haag Centraal ).

Various bus routes run in Akkrum, including to Buitenpost, Heerenveen, Gorredijk, Jimsum and Nes. These bus routes are operated by Arriva and Qbuzz .
