Akuliaruseq [ akuliˈaʁusɜq ] (according to the old spelling Akuliaruseĸ ) is a deserted Greenlandic settlement in the district of Uummannaq in the Avannaata Kommunia .
location
Akuliaruseq is on the western tip of the peninsula, about four kilometers northeast of Ukkusissat . In front of the place the Torsukattak and the Perlerfiup Kangerlua flow into the Uummannap Kangerlua .
history
Akuliaruseq was founded in 1918 because three families from Ukkusissat moved here. In 1922 it was proposed in Grønlands Landsråd to forbid the area as a hunting area, but against the will of the residents the place could not be abandoned, so attempts were made to persuade the residents. In the following year there was a landslide in Ukkusissat and consideration was given to abandoning the place, whereupon the settlement of Akuliaruseq was postponed. In 1930 Akuliaruseq had eighteen residents. In 1940 there were only eight and in 1950 there were five. 1953 Akuliaruseq was given up.
