Perlerfik [ ˌpɜˈɬːɜfːik ] (according to the old spelling Perdlerfik ) is a deserted Greenlandic settlement in the district of Uummannaq in the Avannaata Kommunia .

location

Perlerfik is located on the south bank of Perlerfiup Kangerlua, relatively close to the source glacier Perlerfiup Sermia . 18 km north is Maamorilik . The next inhabited place is Ukkusissat 30 km west-northwest.

history

Perlerfik was temporarily inhabited as early as the 19th century. Around 1835 snow fell so that the residents could neither go hunting nor leave the place and thus starved to death, which is why the place name came about. Only three residents survived. Perlerfik was repopulated in 1906 by a family from Appat . From 1911 the place belonged to the municipality Ukkusissat. In 1915 there were fourteen people living in two houses at the living space. Among them were three hunters. The only two children in town were taught by their father. In 1924 the place was given up again.
