Nuliarfik [ nuliˈɑfːik ] (according to the old spelling Nuliarfik ) is a desolate Greenlandic settlement in the district of Uummannaq in the Avannaata Kommunia .

location

Nuliarfik is located at the eastern end of the island of Karrat in the mouth of the Kangilleq fjord . Nuugaatsiaq is twelve kilometers to the west .

history

Nuliarfik was probably settled at the end of the 19th century. In 1905 44 people lived in Nuliarfik. In 1911 the place became part of the Illorsuit community . In 1915 the place had 82 inhabitants. In Nuliarfik there were nine residential buildings and a school building from 1914, which was 23 m² in size and built like a Greenlander's house. There were 21 hunters and two fishermen and one of the hunters was in charge of school lessons. In 1925, Nuliarfik was spun off into the Nuugaatsiaq municipality. In 1930 Nuliarfik had 80 inhabitants. After that, the population decreased sharply. In the first half of the 1940s only 39 to 56 people lived in the village and in 1945 the last 43 residents left the place.
