Alain Gabriel Côté (born April 14, 1967 in Montmagny , Québec ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played 130 games for the Boston Bruins , Washington Capitals , Canadiens de Montréal , Tampa Bay Lightning and Nordiques during his active career between 1983 and 2012 de Québec has played in the National Hockey League on the position of defender .

Career

Côté first played between 1983 and 1985 for the Remparts de Québec and Bisons de Granby in the Québec Major Junior Hockey League . After the selection in the 1985 NHL Entry Draft by the Boston Bruins , the defender gained professional experience in the National Hockey League for the first time in the 1985/86 season , but soon returned to the junior division in Granby.

From the summer of 1987, Côté was firmly rooted in the professional sector and subsequently belonged to the franchises of the Washington Capitals , Canadiens de Montréal , Tampa Bay Lightning and Nordiques de Québec . There he was mostly used for their farm teams in the American Hockey League . By the end of the 1993/94 season he played 130 games in the NHL in nine seasons.

Then the defender ran in the 1994/95 season for HK Olimpija Ljubljana in Slovenia , with which he won the Slovenian Championship . He then returned to North America and completed the following two seasons for the San Francisco Spiders and Rafales de Québec in the International Hockey League , followed by a two-year stay in Japan with Snow Brand Sapporo . In the 1999/2000 season , Côté was active for the Nürnberg Ice Tigers in the German Ice Hockey League . This was followed by a one-year interlude at Tappara Tampere in the Finnish SM-liiga .

In the spring of 2001, Côté returned to his home province of Québec . There he played for numerous semi-professional clubs with interruptions until 2012 before ending his career.

International

Côté took part in the 1986 World Junior Championship with his home country . He won the silver medal with the team.
