Alberto Cecchetti

Alberto Cecchetti (born January 9, 1944 in Genoa ) is a San Marinese politician . He was four times Capitano Reggente (head of state), as well as agriculture and justice minister.

Cecchetti was a member of the Partito Socialista Sammarinese (PSS), he was secretary and from 2004 president of the party. In 2005 the PSS merged with the Partito dei Democratici (PdD) to form the Partito dei Socialisti e dei Democratici (PSD). Cecchetti became a member of the party secretariat. In July 2009 he joined the Partito Socialista Riformista Sammarinese (PSRS), founded as a split from the PSD, and became a member of the party's secretariat. The PSRS merged with the Nuovo Partito Socialista (NPS) in May 2012 to form the Partito Socialista (PS). Cecchetti and his daughter, Member of Parliament Silvia Cecchetti , announced their exit from the PS in September 2012.

Cecchetti was a member of the Consiglio Grande e Generale , the Parliament of San Marino, from 1974 to 1978 and again from 1988 to 2008. He did not stand for election in 2008 and 2012. 1978 Cecchetti was for half a year Minister of Agriculture, Communications and Transport (Deputato per l'Agricultura, i Communicazioni ei Trasporti) on behalf of the Capitano Reggente selected Antonio Lazzaro Volpinari . In the 30th cabinet he was Minister of Justice from December 2002 to December 2003 (Segretario di Stato per la Giustizia, i Rapporti con le Giunte di Castello e l'Informaziona) . Cecchetti held the post of Head of State (Capitano Reggente) four times in 1975, 1994, 1998 and 2001/2002. In the legislative period from 2006 to 2008 he was chairman of the judicial committee.

Awards

On March 11, 2002, Cecchetti was awarded the Grand Cross with Grand Chain of Merit of the Italian Republic .
