Luigi Lonfernini (politician, 1938)

Luigi Lonfernini (born August 31, 1938 in Borgo Maggiore ) is a San Marinese politician and lawyer. He was head of state of San Marino in 1971 and 2001 as Capitano Reggente .

Life

Lonfernini graduated from the University of Bologna with a law degree in 1962 . He belonged to the Partito Democratico Cristiano Sammarinese and represented the Christian Democrats from 1964 to 1983 and from 1998 to 2001 in the Consiglio Grande e Generale , the Parliament of San Marino.

In 1964 he became Minister of Tourism and Sport (Deputato per il Turismo, lo Sport e lo Spettacolo) . He kept this post after the government reshuffle in November 1966. After Interior Minister Gian Luigi Berti resigned in December 1968 for health reasons, Lonfernini succeeded him on January 1, 1969 as Segretario di Stato per gli Affari Interni e Deputato ad interim per il Commercio e l'Artigianato . He gave up the tourism department on May 22, 1969. After the parliamentary elections in 1969, he was first Minister of Labor (Deputato per il Lavoro) in the 15th cabinet . In 1970 he took over the Ministry of Agriculture (Deputato per l'Agricultura e l'Industria) and in 1972 followed Giancarlo Ghironzi as Minister of Finance (Segretario di Stato alle Finanze e Bilancio, l'Artigianato e il Commercio) . The Partito Socialista Democratico Indipendente Sammarinese (PSDIS) left the government in 1973 and the PDCS formed a new government with the Partito Socialista Sammarinese (PSS) and the Movimento Libertà Statuarie (MLS), to which Lonfernini was no longer a member. From 1976 to 1978 he was Minister of Education (Deputato per la Pubblica Istruzione e la Cultura) in the 18th cabinet formed by the PDCS and PSS .

Lonfernini was from April 1 to October 1, 1971 and again from April 1, 2001 to October 1, 2001 head of state ( Capitano Reggente ) of San Marino.

He taught at the Scuola di Perfezionamento di Studi Giuridici Sammarinesi of the University of the Republic of San Marino and has been a member of the Istituto Giuridico Sammarinese of the university since 1988 . From 1988 to 1996, Lonfernini was President of the Bar and Notaries Chamber (Ordine degli Avvocati e Notai) and Chairman of the Advisory Board for the Liberal Professions (Consulta dei Liberi Professionisti) . Since 1996 he has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banca Agricola Commerciale della Repubblica di San Marino . Lonfernini wrote several legal textbooks.
