18. San Marine Cabinet

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 18th cabinet consisted of Partito Democratico Cristiano Sammarinese (PDCS) and Partito Socialista Sammarinese (PSS) and ruled San Marino from March 11, 1976 to July 17, 1978. The PDCS provided seven ministers, the PSS three.

The government of PDCS and PSS formed after the parliamentary elections of September 8, 1974 collapsed when the PSS ministers submitted their resignation on November 19, 1975. After several months of negotiations, a new government, again made up of PDCS and PSS, was formed in March 1976. After just a year and a half, the government was again in crisis when the PSS ministers submitted their resignation in November 1977. In the following months, attempts to form a new government failed, which ultimately led to early parliamentary elections on May 28, 1978. An alliance of Partito Comunista Sammarinese (PCS), Partito Socialista Unitario (PSU) and PSS was then formed, which ruled the country until 1986.

The San Marinese constitution has no head of government; in the diplomatic protocol, the foreign minister takes on the role of head of government.
