19. San Marine Cabinet

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 19th cabinet consisted of Partito Comunista Sammarinese (PCS), Partito Socialista Unitario (PSU) and Partito Socialista Sammarinese (PSS) and ruled San Marino from July 17, 1978 to July 4, 1983. The PCS provided four, the both other parties 3 ministers each.

The coalition of Partito Democratico Cristiano Sammarinese (PDCS) and Partito Socialista Sammarinese (PSS) broke up when the PSS ministers submitted their resignation in November 1977. In the following months, attempts to form a new government failed, which ultimately led to early parliamentary elections on May 28, 1978. An alliance of PCS, PSU and PSS was then formed, which ruled the country until 1986. In 1981 the Democrazia Socialista (DS) was accepted into the government. An eleventh department was created for this purpose.

The San Marinese constitution has no head of government; in the diplomatic protocol, the foreign minister takes on the role of head of government.
