Albrecht of Anhalt
Albrecht von Anhalt (born June 24, 1735 on the Kleckewitz manor; † August 26, 1802 in Dessau ) was a Prussian major general .
Life
Albrecht was the son of Wilhelm Gustav von Anhalt-Dessau (1699–1737) and his wife Johanne Sophie Herre (1706–1795). The two were morganatically married. Only after the death of the father were the children recognized under the name "von Anhalt".
Anhalt was initially in the service of Hesse-Kassel for a short time before he was hired on July 31, 1752 as a second lieutenant in the infantry regiment "von Bredow" of the Prussian Army . In the Battle of Kunersdorf on August 12, 1759, he was hit by a bullet, which only caused bruises. On June 13, 1765, Anhalt became captain and company commander . As a major he fought in the campaign in 1778/79 and was awarded the order Pour le Mérite on October 3, 1778 for his services . His request for faster transport, with reference to his long service life, did not comply with King Friedrich II . Then he called in sick and said goodbye . His attempt to enter Saxon service as a colonel failed.
It was not until May 23, 1788, at the request of King Friedrich Wilhelm II, that he was employed again in the Prussian army as lieutenant colonel and chief of the fusilier battalion "von Baer". In 1789 he became a colonel and in 1794 a major general. In 1795 he received the “von Favrat” infantry regiment . He took his leave in 1800 with an annual pension of 1000 thalers. His request for award of the character as a lieutenant general rejected King Friedrich Wilhelm III. from.
