Alexander Andrae (politician)
Alexander Ferdinand Ludwig Andrae called Andrae-Roman (born December 17, 1821 in Hanover , † March 13, 1903 in Stettin ) was a German farmer and politician .
Life
Andrae was born the son of a businessman and landowner and studied in Berlin and Bonn . During his studies he became a member of the Fridericia Bonn fraternity in 1843 and was in contact with Ernst Moritz Arndt , Friedrich Christoph Dahlmann and Gottfried Kinkel .
He was married to Helene Flügge. Their father Wilhelm Flügge acquired the Ramelow estate in the Kolberg-Körlin district in Pomerania in 1845 , divided it into two farms - Niedergut and Obergut -, managed the Niedergut and sold the upper estate to his son-in-law. Alexander Andrae and his wife moved to the Ramelow estate in 1845.
A few years later, Andrae sold the Ramelow estate to a brother-in-law. Instead, in 1851 he bought the Roman manor with Buchwald , also located in the Kolberg-Körlin district. Here he founded Waldhaus , an asylum for released prisoners, in 1853 .
He was friends with Bismarck , through which he joined the circle of the Pomeranian revival movement in 1846 . He worked in the Inner Mission of Pomerania, was active as an author and from 1848/49 member of the Second Chamber of the Prussian State Parliament .
After selling Roman he lived in Szczecin from 1881. Here too he was involved in the Inner Mission. He was a board member of the Kückenmühler Anstalten , the Magdalenenstift , an institution for the education of neglected girls, and the Szczecin City Mission . He died in Szczecin in 1903.
His marriage had eleven children. His daughter Marie Andrae was a writer, educator and nurse. She also published under the pen name Marie Andrae-Romanek. The son Hans was a well-known lawyer.
