Alexander Saftig (born February 12, 1958 in Weißenthurm ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He lives in Kottenheim . Since 2009 he has been the district administrator of the Mayen-Koblenz district .

Life

From 1964 to 1967 Saftig attended elementary school, first in Weißenthurm and later in Saffig . Until 1976 he was then a student at the Kurfürst-Salentin-Gymnasium in Andernach .

After completing his military service, he studied law at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz , which he completed in 1982 with the first state examination . After completing his legal clerkship, he studied at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel from 1983 to 1985 , and Saftig passed the second state examination in 1985 in Mainz . Saftig received his doctorate in 1990 (“Local Suffrage in Germany”) from Christian Albrechts University in Kiel.

From 1985 onwards, various activities in the public service followed. He was employed by the Trier District Government , the Daun District Administration, the Mainz Police Headquarters and the Koblenz District Government until he was finally seconded to the State Chancellery of Rhineland-Palatinate in 1990 and, from 1992, became the chief state official of the Ahrweiler district administration . In 1997 he became mayor of the Vordereifel community . In June 1999 he was elected to the Mayen-Koblenz district council. In June 2008, Saftig was elected district administrator in the Mayen-Koblenz (MYK) district as a candidate for the CDU .

In February 2007 the Landtag of Rhineland-Palatinate elected him a non-judicial member of the Constitutional Court of Rhineland-Palatinate . During his time, the Constitutional Court ruled, among other things, on an interim order in which small restaurants were temporarily exempted from the non-smoker protection legislation. This decision attracted attention in regional media.

In November 2016, Saftig has also been chairman of the Mendig- based German Volcanological Society .
