Ali Hasan Mahboob
Ali Hasan Mahboob (birth name Silas Kirui ; * December 31, 1981 ) is a Bahraini long-distance runner of Kenyan origin.
In 2004 he finished second in the Lille half marathon , and in 2005 he won the Prague half marathon .
With a new name and nationality, he won gold over 10,000 m at the Asian Games in Doha the following year . It was his first ever competition on an arena .
At the 2007 Asian Athletics Championships he took bronze over the same distance, and at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, he came in 18th.
In 2009 he defended his title over 10,000 m at the Asian Championships and won silver over 5,000 m . At the beginning of the following season he was sixth at the World Cross Country Championships in Bydgoszcz .
