Life

He won the Fukuoka Marathon four times (1978–1980, 1983) and the Boston Marathon twice (1981, 1987). He also won the Tokyo International Men's Marathon in 1983, the London and Chicago marathons in 1986. With his victory in the Lake Biwa Marathon in 1988, he was Japanese champion for the third time (previously he had the title with his victories in Fukuoka in 1979 and 1983 won).

As a guest runner in the Ōme marathon over 30 km, he set a course record of 1:29:32 h, which was only beaten in 2019 by the Kenyan Ezekiel Cheboitibin .

Toshihiko Seko is 1.70 m tall and weighed 62 kg at competition times. He works as a trainer for the S&B Food Track Team and was a member of the advisory board for Tokyo's application to host the 2016 Summer Olympics .
