Ali Nassir began figurative painting in the 1970s , which still characterizes his works today. During his first phase of activity, the relationships between his characters are the focus of his work. In his pictures from around 1988 , however, there was also a short "abstract phase" that can be assigned to Ali Nassir's style due to the color spectrum chosen and the relationship between color and line. In the initial phase, his work was influenced on the one hand by the color spectrum of Iranian miniature painting and on the other hand inspired by artists such as Francisco de Goya , Max Beckmann and especially Henri Matisse .

At the center of Nassir's creative process is the synthesis of the mental and philosophical conflicts of his country of origin and his adopted home. In his early creative period, Nassir mainly dealt with the problem of violence. The subject of perpetrators and victims resonates in many works. His works at this time often include large-format pictures with powerful figures that are shown floating, hanging or torn upside down. Individual facial features cannot be recognized, the focus is on action. Another characteristic of his work remains the often undetectable center of the picture. Nassir chooses strong colors. Brightness, gloom and contrasts alternate.

Today the portfolio of Ali Nassir ranging from oil painting , on the paper cut to drawings. The latter mainly show personal moments or sketches. Many of his works show enigmatic fantasies, landscapes, people and animal figures. Architecture and geometric elements are subtly incorporated. In the course of his creative phase, changes in the style of his painting can be observed.

While in the 1980s Nassir was still concerned with large, massive human figures that were grouped voluminously in the picture space, today it is more delicate and detailed figures that almost merge with the picture. In all of Nassir's creative periods, he was primarily concerned with human existence. Often works are related to each other. The painter complements his work with trees , creepers, flowers and animals . In the end, this creates an almost artificial world that oscillates between the supposedly familiar and the fantastically foreign.
