In September 2006 she won the silver medal at the U20 European Judo Championships under 53 kg in Tallinn , Estonia. Despite the medal, she said it was just a mediocre tournament as she made some mistakes in the final.

In October 2007 she won the U20 European Judo Championships under 63 kg in Prague , Czech Republic.

At the age of 20 she competed for Israel at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and took 13th place in the light middleweight division under 63 kg.

In April 2008 and April 2009 she won the bronze medal at the European Judo Championships in 2008 and 2009 , each weighing less than 63 kg, in Lisbon , Portugal, and Tbilisi , Georgia.

In August 2009 she won a bronze medal at the 2009 Judo World Championships under 63 kg in Rotterdam. In November 2009 she won the U23 European Judo Championship under 63 kg in Antalya , Turkey. The National Olympic Committee of Israel selected her as co-athlete of the year 2009.

In August 2011 she reached rank 6 at the Judo World Championships 2011 in the class under 63 kg. In September 2011 she won the silver medal at the Grand Prix in Düsseldorf , Germany in the class under 63 kg. She only lost the final due to the jury's decision against Yoshie Ueno from Japan, who had been world champion in the previous two years.

In July 2012, Schlesinger reached the quarter-finals at the 2012 Summer Olympics . There she lost to Urška Žolnir from Slovenia .

After the Olympic Games in London, Schlesinger and the Israel Judo Association (IJA) got into a conflict. Schlesinger claimed the IJA had ordered that she should move up to a higher weight class in the weight class under 63 kg to make way for Yarden Gerbi . In addition, her coach's salary was cut. The IJA denied that they asked Schlesinger to change weight class and justified the cut in salary with a change in the training system. As a result of the conflict, Schlesinger decided to run for Great Britain.

For the UK

In December 2014, the International Judo Federation confirmed that former Israeli Olympian Alice Schlesinger will now compete for Great Britain .

She won the silver medal at the European Judo Open in Sofia, Bulgaria, the gold medal at the 2015 Grand Prix in Düsseldorf and the silver medal at the European Women's Judo Open in Prague.
