Aline da Silva Ferreira (born October 18, 1986 in São Paulo ) is a Brazilian wrestler . In 2014 she became vice world champion in the weight class up to 75 kg.

Career

Aline da Silva Ferreira, originally from São Paulo, began as a teenager in her hometown with judo . After two years she switched to wrestling in 2001. She belongs to the Sesi Osasco São Paulo club and has so far mainly been coached by Alejo Morales. The 1.77 meter tall athlete weighs around 80 kg and wrestles in the heavyweight class.

She made her first international start at the age of seventeen in 2003. That year she took part in the women's world championships in New York in the weight class up to 72 kg body weight. But she was still overwhelmed there and lost to Wang Xu from China and Ohenewa Akuffo from Canada and finished in 21st place. In 2005 she reached 2nd place in the Pan American Junior Championship in Maracaibo in the weight category up to 72 kg and in 2006 she was Pan American Junior Champion in Guatemala City. In the same year Aline da Silva Ferreira was in Guatemala City in the weight category up to 72 kg junior vice world champion behind Wasilisa Marsalijuk , Belarus and ahead of Ali Sue Bernard , United States and Jekaterina Bukina , Russia. That was her greatest international success to date.

In 2007 and 2008 she was unable to qualify for international championships in Brazil. In September 2009, however, she was at the start of the Women's World Cup in Herning / Denmark. She had trained there in the weight class up to 67 kg body weight, but lost her first fight against Yoshiko Inoue from Japan, dropped out and only came in 21st place. In 2010, she took 3rd place at the Pan American Championship in Monterrey in the weight class up to 72 kg behind Ali Sue Bernard and Leah Callahan, Canada. At the Pan-American Championship in 2011 in Rionegro / Colombia she reached the final battle, which she lost to Leah Callahan. In September 2011 she started at the Women's World Cup in Istanbul. She came there in the weight class up to 72 kg to a victory over Simga Yilmaz from Turkey, but lost her second fight against Maja Gunvor Erlandsen from Norway and finished in 10th place. In October 2011 she also took part in the Pan American Games in Guadalajara and only lost there in the final against Lisset Hecheverria Medina from Cuba, with which she took an excellent 2nd place.

In 2012 Aline da Silva Ferreira tried to qualify for the Olympic Games in London at three tournaments in Kissimmee Orlando / USA, Taiyuan / China and Helsinki, but she did not succeed. In September 2012, she started at the World Championships which will take place in Strtathcoona County / Canada after the Olympic Games. She won there over Epp Mae from Estonia, but lost to Güzäl Mänürowa from Kazakhstan and Natalja Palamarchuk from Azerbaijan and finished in 10th place. In November 2012 she was the first South American champion in Calla / Peru ahead of Ana Talia Betancourt from Colombia.

In 2013 she took part in the Women's World Cup in Budapest. But there she lost her first fight against Yasemin Adar from Turkey in the weight class up to 72 kg , with which she was eliminated and only came in 24th place. In March 2014 she won the South American championship title for the second time in the weight category up to 75 kg in Santiago de Chile, but only came 7th in the Pan-American championship in Mexico City in July 2014. All the more surprising was her excellent performance at the 2014 Women's World Cup in Tashkent, where she reached the final in the weight class up to 75 kg after victories over Gulmira Ismatowa, Uzbekistan, Andrea Carolina Olaya, Colombia and Otschirbatyn Burmaa , Mongolia, in which she did, however clearly lost to Adeline Gray of the United States. Winning the World Cup silver medal was still a great success for her. This medal was the first medal that a Brazilian wrestler ever won at a world championship.
