Alison La Placa

Alison Jo La Placa (born December 16, 1959 in Newark , Essex County , New Jersey ) is an American theater , film actress and voice actress . She was best known for her portrayal of Linda Phillips in the American television series Duet and Open House in the late 1980s and as Catherine Merrick on night shift with John in the mid 1990s.

Life

La Placa was born in New Jersey, but grew up in a suburb of Chicago . She graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with an acting degree and received extensive training in classical piano and singing. She has appeared on stage in regional productions of the musicals Dames at Sea and Company and in the production of Strider by the Los Angeles Cast Theater. She has been married to actor Philip Charles MacKenzie since 1992 .

She has been working as a film actress since 1983. She had her first major role in the movie Rock Aliens . After supporting roles and episode roles in various television series, she worked from 1987 to 1989 as Linda Phillips in a total of 54 episodes of the television series Duet . From 1989 to 1990, she impersonated the same role in 24 episodes of the television series Open House . From 1994 to 1996 she was seen as Catherine Merrick in a total of 49 episodes of the television series Night Shift with John . This was followed by episode roles in television series such as A Heavenly Family , Malcolm in the Middle , Emergency Room , Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy . From the 21st century, activities for the film industry declined noticeably. In the 1990s she voiced her voice for some characters in cartoons.
