Altenhof is located about seven kilometers southwest of Coburg in a valley through which the Tambach flows. The state road 2202 from Weitramsdorf to Tambach leads through the village. A community road connects Altenhof with Scheuerfeld .
history
Altenhof was first mentioned in a document on June 27, 1226, when the Würzburg bishop Hermann von Lobdeburg settled a dispute between Ulrich von Calwenberg (Callenberg) and the abbot of the Langheim monastery . Ulrich von Calwenberg and his brothers had to go to the farm at “Burckersdorf”, later Tambach, and the goods in the associated villages “Vetus curia” (Altenhof), “Weitersdorf” (Weitramsdorf), “Gersbech” ( Gersbach ), “ Neuendorf “( Neundorf ) and Witzmannsberg .
According to the place name, it was probably the first Langheim monastery courtyard, which was followed by the Tambach monastery courtyard . Altenhof was administered by the Klosterhof Tambach, the most important branch of the Langheim monastery, which was the landlord and fiefdom of the Mönchsdorf. The place belonged to the Prince -Bishop's Würzburg territory, the neighboring Weitramsdorf to the Principality of Saxony-Coburg . In between there was a denominational boundary.
In 1779 the village burned down. In 1803 Franconia became part of Bavaria and with the secularization in Bavaria , the Langheim monastery was dissolved. In January 1806, Count Joseph Carl von Ortenburg took possession of the Tambacher Lande, to which Altenhof also belonged, as an imperial county of Ortenburg-Tambach . In October 1806 the county was mediatized . From December 1806 to 1810 Altenhof belonged to the Grand Duchy of Würzburg as part of the Tambacher Land . Thereafter, the was rule judgment Tambach the Bavarian Main circuit assigned. Altenhof and the larger Tambach merged to form the Altenhof community. Another district was the village of Hergramsdorf . In 1835 the place received a school for Catholic students. In 1862 the rural community Altenhof was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office in Staffelstein .
In 1925 the parish Altenhof had 158 inhabitants and 28 houses, the community 360 inhabitants. The school for the Protestant students was in Tambach. On April 1, 1931, the Altenhof community was incorporated from the Staffelstein district office into the Coburg district office.
On January 1, 1972, Altenhof was incorporated into Weitramsdorf. In 1987 the village had 293 inhabitants and 77 houses with 104 apartments.
