Amara Miller (born May 4, 2000 ) is an American actress who gained international fame primarily as a child actress .

life and career

Amara Miller was born on May 4, 2000 to Ahnalisa and Michael Miller and grew up in the Californian coastal town of Pacific Grove as one of three children (one younger and one older brother). Before her success as an actress, she last attended Pacific Grove Middle School , which she left after her sixth grade and then received home schooling. In 2009, her aunt was at a party where it was discussed that director Alexander Payne was looking for someone to play in his new film The Descendants . Her niece, Amara, who was nine years old at the time and had no acting experience at all, came to mind.

After Amara had subsequently recorded an audition tape and this test tape was well received by the producers, she was cast in the feature film for the role of Scottie King . There she held one of the leading roles of the film alongside George Clooney and Shailene Woodley , where they mimed the film daughters of Clooney together with Woodley. The award-winning film, which has been nominated umpteen times and was nominated five times at the 2012 Academy Awards and won the award in the " Best Adapted Screenplay " category , was shot in Hawaii and was one of the most successful with grossing over 177 million US dollars Films of the film year 2011 .

Amara Miller has also been nominated for several awards for her performance in film, including in 2011 for a Gotham Award in the category "Best Ensemble Performance" together with George Clooney , Shailene Woodley , Nick Krause , Beau Bridges , Mary Birdsong , Rob Huebel , Robert Forster , Matthew Lillard and Judy Greer .
