Amedeo Della Valle ( April 11, 1993 in Alba , Piedmont ) is an Italian basketball player . Della Valle won the 2013 European Junior Championship with the Italian U20 junior selection and was voted Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament. A year later, he abandoned his studies in the United States and became a professional player at Grissin Bon Reggio Emilia in the Italian top league Lega Basket Serie A . Della Valle is now also a national player in the Italian men's selection , in which his father Carlo Della Valle was also active.

Career

Amedeo Della Valle has played for the youth teams of the Junior Libertas club from Casale Monferrato in Piedmont since 2007 . From 2010 he was also used in individual games in the club's men's team in the second-highest division Legadue . In 2011, after taking the first place in the main round and winning the promotion play-offs, the team made it to the top division of Lega Basket Serie A for the first time . After the U18 European Youth Championship 2011, in which Della Valle hardly played in the last three games and Italy missed the bronze medal in fourth place, Della Valle moved to the United States, where he studied at the "Prep School" Henderson International in Henderson ( Nevada) was preparing to study in the United States. In 2012 he began studying at Ohio State University , where he played for the Buckeyes college team in the NCAA's Big Ten Conference . The Buckeyes won the Big Ten championship tournament in 2013, but lost the quarter-finals Elite Eight in the NCAA national finals tournament against the shock team from Wichita State University , thereby missing out on participation in the Final Four tournament. At the U20 European Junior Championships in 2013, Della Valle led the Italian junior selection to tournament victory and was named MVP as the best player of the tournament. The Buckeyes missed their title defense in the Big Ten in 2014 and were surprisingly eliminated in the first round of the final tournament against the Flyers of the University of Dayton . Dissatisfied with his game shares with the Buckeyes Della Valle dropped out of his studies at Ohio State and became a professional player with Grissin Bon from Reggio nell'Emilia in the top Italian division Serie A. The team won without the participation of Della Valle as the host of the Final Four Tournament in Bologna with the EuroChallenge 2013/14 her first international club title. In the Italian championship, in which Della Valle only had a single short appearance, Reggiana lost as seventh in the main round in the first play-off round in just under five games against previous series champion Montepaschi Siena . Nevertheless, Della Valle was part of the Italian men's national team in the summer of 2014. Della Valle played his first international game against the German national basketball team , against whom he scored seven points in a 91: 59 success in a preparatory tournament in Trento .
